The Red House is pleased to annouce its Winter Exhibition, "Holiday Jewels II", showcasing local Galena artist Sandra K. Principe. This is Sandra's second annual holiday show and features all new floral and landscape paintings, including numerous miniature paintings for collectors and gift giving.
Sandra's artwork has evolved from relatively quick watercolors, to detailed old paintings in the style of the old Masters. "As I put more of my energy and focus into my paintings, I began seeing more detail, more depth of color, more richness in textures and found that I could successfully capture these elements in my oil paintings." Her unique style is one that creates natural floral forms that reflect opalexcent light on and through the flowers on the canvas. These paintings remain Sandra's signature works admired by her patrons across the country.
Sandra has had solo and group shows of her works at galleries in West Palm Beach, Florida; Laguana Beach, California; Chicago and Galena, Illinois; Kenosha and Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Austin, Texas. Additionally, she has had solo shows that The University of Dubuque and The Red House.
Sandra studied at the University of Wisconsin and lived in Chicago for twenty years where she studied at The Art Institute of Chicago and The American Academy of Art. Her studio was in the historic Palette and Chisel Artist's League Building.
