Fall Garden Party - Group Exhibit // September - November 2006
From her Touch of Clay studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, Susan brings pottery to life by creating vases, teapots and bowls that are painted in the soothing colors of leaves, grasses, flowers, earth and sky that nature provides. A “natural” fit for the “Fall Garden Party” Exhibit,
Susan’s hand-crafted works, often asymmetrical mirroring of the multitude of these forms of nature, are inspired by the colors, designs and textures found in her native North Carolina environment.
Working in clay and gardening are two of Susan’s passions: “ I greatly appreciate the inherent similarities of working with clay and soil. The endless varieties of foliage and flowers are my palette and the constant source of my joy and inspiration.”
Susan Parrish is one of a select few clay artists published in Lark’s Ceramics Books, 500 Teapots and 500 Vases. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Auburn University and has been working full-time in clay since 1980. She has shown her works at numerous galleries and craft shows throughout the Northeast and South. This is Susan’s second show at The Red House Art Gallery.
